Kits Beach Courts Closed Renewal Has Begun

Yes there is a Santa Claus and with the elves and dwarfs the work has begun on the Kits Beach Courts.
From Wednesday May 15th onward until further notice all programs at the Kits Beach Courts will now be held on the Tennis Courts at Kitsilano High School. All Kids’ classes will be held on the North Courts and Adult Classes will be held on the South Courts. Times remain the same.
This will be small sacrifice for the Tennis playing public who have more than earned the pleasure of playing surrounded by one of the most beautiful settings Tennis can be played and played for free-small tax increase aside.

Beginner: 43301.102:Tu/Th at Parkade Courts 6:40-8:00 Tuesday April 30 and Thursday May 2.
Lower Intermediate 43304.104: Tu/Th at Parkade Courts 6:00-8:30 Tuesday April 30 Thursday May 2.

Febraury Indoor Classes at The River Club

There are still a few spaces available for the February Indoor classes at the River Club.Friday’s lower Intermediate 3.0-3.5 and Sunday’s 2.5-3.0 both have two openings. Both classes are from 8-10pm. As well there is one spot available in the 3.5-4.0 Drills on Thursday evenings 9-11pm. Classes begin this week.

Sessions are 4 classes of 2 hours each, cost is $160.00 plus HST. Contact Gord at gordhauklastennis@gmail.com. Class cost will be prorated for registration after starting dates.

Spring is a few warm days away, get in shape for the coming season.

Well you may have been there, saw it on the tellie or were awakened from your Sunday pleasures by the insane screaming of your neighbour’s tennis nut. Yes we won. Never mind who was not playing for Spain-that was their arrogant and poorly assessed strategy sending Team ZZ to play us. It was exciting and we will have more to come.
Thanks to the team for giving us the thrill of victory, because the Davis Cup is a team game. Milos Ranoic played wonderfully! Completely up to his ability and with a very efficient dispatch of the opponents he sealed the deal. Frank Dancevic made this possible. The match of his life gave Canada the victory and a place in Canadain Tennis history. Daniel Nestor and Vasek Pospisil kept Granollers on the court for nearly four hours on Saturday setting him up for the task and responsibility of caring his country on Sunday. Not to be. Instead the Spanish coach opted for Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and Spain was what it was…beaten.

All Canadian tennis fans and players can take in the feeling of victory-it is very new for most of us. Get ready, there will be more!

2013 Vancouver Community Centre Winter Tennis Programs

Registration begins in the next week for January to April Children’s and Adult Lessons at False Creek. There is outdoor Polar Lessons for the hardy and committed player.

The schedule for False Creek and all other centres is on the left of this page.

Children’s Programs are also available at Dunbar, Kitsilano, Killarney, Trout Lake and the West End. These programs are in the the nice warm and dry gyms at each centre.
